Birthday Cakes

I thought I want to skip to Hard Rock but just thought my birthday cake for this year is worth the mention.

Last year my eldest sister bought a jelly cake for my second sister which tasted awesome and looked awesome too. So I've been pestering them to get me one. Ever since the first cake, we have gotten 4 jelly cake from them. We had one last October, then November, then two in April this year.

First time and we fell in love with the design and the taste

Just because dad is always with his vest and tie. -.-"

Mine this year with tonnes of little jellies in the middle which I love

My cousin's

All 4 different designs. One thing though, we need to self-collect and her house is in Marvista which is on the way to Batu Ferringhi. So it can be a little inconvenient. Cost about RM60 to RM90. Quite okay for the effort I think. We ordered one with longan in the middle but I don't have the picture. That was for my uncle. So we actually bought 5 from her thus far.

I love it cause I don't like the cream on cakes and I prefer Fruit Flans anyway. You can see more designs on her Facebook *click here*.

The Mugshot

The boyfriend and I went to The Mugshot few Fridays ago. Like FINALLY. We've been wanting to go but didn't manage to. Glad we went there cause I super love the bagels. Some love it, some don't. Oh well, I've tasted a horrible bagel before so I like the one I tried at Mugshot.

Love the vintage-y deco of the whole place. Creates a cozy environment to dine in. I was sitting right beside the display so the yogurt were tempting me. Will go back for that!

Look at the brick oven. Super cool right???

 Black tea for the boyfriend

Salmon with Cream Cheese Bagel for me!!!

While the boyfriend had Ham Bagel and Black Coffee.

Then we went to take some "compulsory" pictures at the booth. I forced the boyfriend to write Road Rage cause he is a mad driver =P

 Look at the face!!!
He wanted me to write unreasonable cause I can be rather unreasonable with him. But I made him write indecisive instead. Teehee.

The Boy's Birthday

This year for the boyfriend's birthday, we had a meal at Morganfield's again cause my boy loves his rib more than anything else. We had it here last year too. Anyways, this year we had it with the whole family.

My mumsie and our Datin grandma. She wasn't stoked about this cause she wants her good ol' hawker food

Second sis, me and eldest sis

The boy and I

Eldest Sis and Mum

I was wearing a dress from random boutique in Penang.

The 3 generation's ladies.

Sorry for too many shots of me cause the boyfriend is not a big fan of being photographed while I love to be photographed when I dress up. =P We are perfect match I tell you! Even my trip in Bali, almost 95% of the pictures are of me or the scenery. Only 5% of him. But he is the one who can make all the funny poses.

No pictures of food cause we whack them all before I took any pictures. HOWEVER, there's a good news.

If you spend a minimum of RM300 in a single receipt the day before your birthday, or on the day of your birthday or the day after, you will get a whole year supply of half rib. You will get half a rib once every month for the next 12 months. The boyfriend got it. I like the food there for the price and the quality and quantity of food. ^^

Now that I begin to try to blog on what we have done, maybe for once we will remember what we did for Valentines or birthdays or anniversary. It's better not to remember though. =P Then we will be easily impressed and pleased.

Victoria Rossa with my girls

Before I got to this place, I have seen people taking nice photos and talking about it. Both my sisters been there but there were mixed response. My eldest sister simply loves it (just as how she loves everything English) while my second sister said there wasn't really much to shout about. She commented on the how the owner weren't exactly the friendliest one.

So when June recommended this place for our gathering since the girls are coming back from all over the world (like KL and Singapore haha) for the election, we said YES! Girls and hi-tea goes well eh?

June later told us that the owner said the private room can only fit 8 people and thus our big group of 12 will have to sit separately with 4 more sitting outside. It was absurd. Why would we want to go there together and then sit separately? We are not some rich tai-tais with 4 maids okay? We decided to still go and see what we can do. They also set a minimum of two sets of hi-tea since there were so many of us. Plenty of rules. =x Some were already having bad impression of the place.

I was the first to reach but was requested to sit at an empty table first as the customers in the room have not left. I don't mind one bit. What I mind though was how tiny their sign board is. It is so easily to missed it. I had to walk right up the door to know that I was at the right place.

Loved the wallpaper
And the chair
And the salt and pepper shaker.
We also presented Jen Jen her present.

We got the two sets of hi-tea to share among all of us and I ordered a juice as I am not a tea person. This one has a bitter after taste. Wasn't bad but wasn't anything great either. RM9 for a small bottle like this.

Petite knife and fork.
Our 4 pots of tea.

The three tier hi-tea set. If I still remember, the tart was just sweet, the cakes were just sweet. I like the scones though. Sandwich is just normal. But the scones is really good. Warm and soft

I'm a little tea pot, short and stout. =P
Me and the hi-tea set.

Then the girls surprised us with a cake. Mine was long over-due while Jen's was super early. I was surprised cause I thought it was only for Jen. ^^ Happy me. Hi cake with my name.
And then we started taking pictures. Since we paid so much for the food, we deserve some of these okay?

We also ordered the Chicken Pie and the Salmon. The chicken pie was alright at RM18 but the salmon was crazy overpriced. Such a small serving at RM30. I wouldn't order that if I ever go there again.

Another thing that I would like to comment on this place was that they only allowed us to refill our tea ONCE. And it's not like we only shared 4 pots of tea. We ordered extra pot with 4 other juices. Only Diana and her boyfriend shared a pot. The rest of us had one drink of our own. So it's quite absurd to tell us that we can only refill once.

I heard from someone saying that the owner said something about wanting customers who can appreciate tea and perhaps if we refill again, there won't be much taste left. But then again, how many really knows how to appreciate tea? And they don't give you extra cups. I don't know if I would go back there again (cause I like the scones) but I'll probably find scones somewhere else. Definitely won't go there with the boyfriend. He has problems with bad customer service. =P

One thing to note though, they did not scold us for making too much noise. And 10 girls and 1 boy sure make lots of noise.

Kenny and Nude Wedges

Kenny Rogers Roaster was having this Red Day and the boyfriend and I decided to go there for our dinner since it' buy one free one. He has had a tough day in studio so a good pick me up dinner will be great for him. So we drove down to 1st Avenue to get ours. We assume the one in Queensbay will have long queue with USM students and whatnot.

When we reached, there's quite some people in front of us but they are all in big groups. So the guy told us that we can go in first cause there's table for two. YAY! So don't go in big groups. =P Just kidding. We are #foreveralone that's why we rarely go dinner with friends.

I did not take picture of the food but the boyfriend did. Will get the picture from him tomorrow morning. But I have two pictures of us sipping our drink (can't even remember the name) and wearing all red. Love it.

After a satisfying meal, we walked around at 1st Avenue. I actually wanted to go there to shop a bit for CNY as well. But the day before I got myself two tops from Brands Outlet so no more clothes this time around. I went to Payless (which I love going cause all sizes are on display and they have sizes for huge feet like mine). I tried on some heels but couldn't bare the pain so I went looking for wedges instead.

Scored this nude wedges at RM89. I know it's not exactly cheap (for me) but I don't buy many shoes. I probably buy like one a year or the most 2 last year and I still have them for CNY since I did not wear them for Christmas. I have huge feet and I only wear my mum's shoes. =P She buys, I wear. I can never shop for my own shoes cause ALL HURTS. Especially heels/higher shoes. To date, I have only 2 high heels which are really mine. And this is the third. Love the buckle cause it's huge enough. I usually don't buy shoes with buckle cause it's such a hassle to put them on. But I'm loving these.

Many people likes it and comments that it's nice. So yay to me!! The boyfriend paid RM50 for it though. I've been spending wayyyy too much. NEED.TO.STOP. Online shops stop putting up nice clothes!!!!!

ps: I need a part time job. You may sponsor me plus size clothings or other products too!!! I don't mind. I really don't! Until of course I lose weight and stop being plus size.

pps: My complexion is going downhill now. If you want to show super huge effect, I can lend my face. Provided you got super good products la!!

Ciskek = Cheesecake

I am in charge of the craft section for my church's Vacation Bible School end of this year. So basically I have to handle all the crafty stuff. And knowing that I am no crafty person and I have 130 kids to prepare for, we roped in my CG friends (who somehow happens to be all ladies) to help me with cutting and sticking.

Awesome lots cause they did like 100 out of the 130 that I have to do. And they are gonna do it again next week. So because they are so awesome, they deserve some awesome cheesecake as a reward. So I contacted one of my church member who is selling VERY RICH AND YUMMILICIOUS cheesecake to bake us a 500g one at RM35 (CHEAP!)

Comes with this cute peg. =) Super free la this girl.

Call this guy for the awesome cheese cake. You have to order 3 days in advance tho.

Written by my friend. -.-"

See how caring are they? You can opt how many pieces you want them to cut. And if you want to share among many, you can opt for this square cuts. Which is the best choice cause it's super rich and it's nice to slowly savour small pieces. Easy to tapao also!!!

Looks like all our cheese cake orders will be with them from now on!!! =) Cause it's damn yummy, it's very reasonably priced and it's an awesome cake to share with many people. Great cake to order for any like house warming party or aiya, any party. Parties are more awesome with yummilicious cheese cake. =) I love!

Call Sunn at 016 4622812 to order. Only in Penang!
