Steamboats

I had 6 days of steamboats at different houses, cooked by different family and they all taste different. I know, you might be thinking, steamboat is just soup and those ingredients like fishball, fish, prawns, meat, vegetables right? How can it taste different?

Every family has their own way of cooking the soup and they are all yummiliciously different!

2 days before CNY I cleverly suggested dinner at Bar-B-Q

My ATM was there. <3

The night before CNY had reunion steamboat at Chih Heng's place.

1st Day of CNY steamboat at Ah Win's

Making Popiah for the first time.
2nd Day of CNY was spent at Sis's Godmum's place where I had another round of steamboat - tomyam and clear soup but I did not take picture.
3rd day of CNY, I had my steamboat at Shan's new place

Nom nom nom ice cream.

And the final one was at home but I don't have the picture with me now. So CNY has been of steamboats. Not that I'm complaining. I love anything soup. And homecook ones beats anything out there.

Spot the chicken

One on top of the cupboard

Four on the tv console.

Closer shots of the chickens

GOT EGG SOME MORE. I THOUGHT IT'S REAL EGG. I confirmed it's not, kok-ed it.

Two more closer shots of those on the console.

Apparently, chicken is good. So my aunt being the more-the-merrier-person, there you go, chickens everywhere. In fact I remembered seeing a few more in the kitchen or somewhere, but I did not capture it.

This is when I'll say, "Too much lah you."

Pre-Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year has been of eating, eating and more eating. It has been a while since I last posted any picture in my blog because I'm plain lazy very busy. You know, final year student with final year projects, I have a life to live okay? =P I do miss blogging, posting nonsensical stuff and laughing at myself. But the boyfriend, Mr. Daniel Chong Voon Chuen says my blog is too wordy, too boring for him. Cis.

So I shall only update for those who are interested to read of my not so eventful life. Let me write this for Chinese New Year first. Other rants will be in next post alrighty?

The three sisters have something in common, you see. No, it's not the face or the chin or the height. It's the thick-skinnedness. Even before Chinese New Year, while we were cleaning up our house and decorating our place, we go on telling our boyfriends, friends and anyone who cares to listen, "Our house will be very pretty soon."

So we had to make sure it was pretty else we'll have to put mud on our faces and stay in our 'pretty' house the entire Chinese New Year.

Love the redness of this place. I totally adore this huge huge mirror.

Smartest purchase this year was the curtain and this set of cushion covers. Worst buy last year? The curtains and that set of cushion covers. Yep, we learn fast.

Everything is red red and ong ong. Love that centerpiece.

The usual red 'chai' (the red cloth that we must put on our door during Chinese New Year)
You see, we recycle all our decos, so these things are only out to see the world once a year.

That little (not so little actually) plant over there was decorated by me. /action maction.

My bedroom where the fluffiest and comfi-est bed is at. /rolls around.

Oranges that are carefully swirled with red papers as offerings. I am a Christian but my grandma still practises all this.

You will not recognize these containers now since they are either empty or soon to be empty.
So tell me now, my house pretty or not? /glares

The Forgotten Ang Pow

"Hey, you got your ang pow from ah ma already?" I asked as I woke up on the second day of Chinese New Year.

It is unlike my grandmother to forget to give us ang pow on the first day of Chinese New Year. Every year, she would do it early in the morning as soon as she wakes up. This year she stayed over at my aunt's.

"Yes, I got mine. Why?" my sister asked half-heartedly. She was getting ready to go out again.

"I haven't got mine! Has che che got hers?" I asked again.

"I think so. Ah ma gave it last night while you were busy playing with the dogs. See, told you to stop playing with the dogs," she said, sounding ever so sarcastic.

"Are you sure?" I hurriedly got off my bed and went to my eldest sister's room.

"Che, you got your ang pow from ah ma already?" I asked even before she open her eyes.

"Yes," she answered in her sleep.

"She forgot mine already," I mumbled under my breath.

"Why girl? Why looking so sad?" asked mummy who just got into the room.

"Ah ma forgot my ang pow I think. I am too embarrass to tell her about it," I grumbled softly.

"I'll tell ah ma okay? I think she must have missed yours with so many grandchildren now," mummy said, hurriedly went to Ah ma's room.

From far, I could hear mummy say, "Ah Mak, you forgot to give Ah Girl ang pow."

A smile was formed on my face. I may have grown up but that moment, I felt like a small kid again, feeling excited to get my ang pow.

CNY 2010

It felt like yesterday when I was a small kid, loving CNY and being all excited for it. Now, as I grow older and as I changed and mature *although some would deny this*, CNY is no longer that exciting and fun. The fun only lasted for 1.5 days. And I almost finish using the ang pow money already. Don't tell me that I have to keep it till the next year or what. I did that two years ago and all my ang pow was stolen nicely. T_T

Basically CNY is about eating, taking pictures and mingling with cousins and friends. I did all that. Just that it lasted for 1.5 days only.

DAY 1
Monkey's house. He has this newly built attic so we all went to his place for some games. Learnt mahjong like so awesome.

Dengan penuh keobviousan, we posed for the camera.

Then took some goofy pictures with cousins.

And got a little serious.

With the bfs and kids.

Family potrait!!!

After all the camwhoring, we went to Monkey's attic to play some Wii.

We did some exercise like playing tenis.

And golf.

Super love his attic cause can camwhore to the max!!

DAY 2
Uncle's house. Went there, eat, got chased around by Georgie - the dog, take some pictures then left. I don't have the picture. =s

DAY 3
Went out with the girls. <3 Everyone looked so good now and just love!!!! Hee

Buying cake for Su Ling, our baby heee.

Yum yum

Nice hat. =P

Ah Win says look like bunny. WHERE GOT? T_T

Ze girls. <3 muchie muchie.

Went Sunset Bistro after that and then to Bird Shit for supper.

Love going out with them cause they are the funnest and camwhorest and sweetest and most lovable girls ever!!!!

DAY 5

Flawless skin. Blackcurrant is like ze best. =P
