Birthday Cakes

I thought I want to skip to Hard Rock but just thought my birthday cake for this year is worth the mention.

Last year my eldest sister bought a jelly cake for my second sister which tasted awesome and looked awesome too. So I've been pestering them to get me one. Ever since the first cake, we have gotten 4 jelly cake from them. We had one last October, then November, then two in April this year.

First time and we fell in love with the design and the taste

Just because dad is always with his vest and tie. -.-"

Mine this year with tonnes of little jellies in the middle which I love

My cousin's

All 4 different designs. One thing though, we need to self-collect and her house is in Marvista which is on the way to Batu Ferringhi. So it can be a little inconvenient. Cost about RM60 to RM90. Quite okay for the effort I think. We ordered one with longan in the middle but I don't have the picture. That was for my uncle. So we actually bought 5 from her thus far.

I love it cause I don't like the cream on cakes and I prefer Fruit Flans anyway. You can see more designs on her Facebook *click here*.

My nightmare

Right after I wrote 'The Old Me' and decided to blog actively, I remembered that I need this to be recorded in my blog.

This was taken during my trip to Bali
I have been showing people this side of my face when I am taking photographs and also hiding my other side behind hair or make up. That is because, while preparing for my thesis, I have very terrible pattern of sleeping. Like I sleep at 7am and wake up at 10am. And I was doing it for the entire week. Then on weekends I rush to teach tuition and Sunday school. It was madness. My facial routine was disrupted cause by the time I sleep at 7, I was too tired to go to the toilet to wash my face and put on my toner and moisturizer.

So after I submitted my thesis, I noticed that my complexion is horrible. I started getting these pimples or acne on my face. They are huge and they stay for weeks. I got very depressed but all I did was my own routine hoping that they will subside. Of course they did not. There were pus hiding underneath it and it was horrible!

Luckily Diana and I bought some vouchers for facial and I finally went to get my facial. After 3 excruciating hours, I came out looking like this. She squeezed most my of pimples out leaving them looking reddish but definitely much better. I immediately became RM600++ poorer as I need to fix my face. So I got some cream and signed up for another 4 facials.
I will be going for my facial again and I hope it will be better soon.

I went to

La Vie de Beauty
No. 45 Jalan Sungai Kelian
Tanjung Bungah, Penang 11200
016-445 4662 (Call Tue – Fri: 11am – 8pm / Sat – Sun: 10am – 7pm).

Will update with progress.

CNY Clothes Shopping For Plus Sized

Shopping can be hard for plus size women. I myself has gradually moved back to the state where it's quite hard to get nice clothes from the mall. I vow to get it back down soonest okay? But I still enjoy my fair bit of shopping with some shops and also online shopping sites. I've tried a few shops and the quality is great and the price is reasonable so I'm gonna share here.

My CNY shopping haul. Hope you find it useful and can get some CNY clothes yourself. =)

Aishop sells good quality clothes that looks nice even on plus sized girls. At first I find the price a little steep for me since I'm not working so I chose only one dress and one pants and bought two lace camisoles for my sister. But when I received the items, THE QUALITY IS SO GOOD!!! I pay for RM70-80 I expect a quality that is worth that price. And they are!!

Cucucamber's stuff sold off QUICK. But now that she produces her own brand, she has more stocks in hand. Her price can be rather steep at times (again because I'm an unemployed student) but I've bought some clothes at RM30-ish from her and the quality is AWESOME! So good that I'm always seen wearing those few dresses. I love her coloured jeggings which are SUPER comfortable and she has lots of sizes, sizes up to 5xl. So you don't have to worry not be able to get the size you need.

Jessabella's clothes are a mix of I-HAVE-TO-HAVE-IT and NAH-NOT-GONNA-BE-SEEN-WEARING-IT. I think she has a very wide range of items and her quality is commendable. Not always top notch but rarely disappoints. Her price is also between a GOOD-BUY and a OK-BUY range.

Tesco. YES, you heard me right. Tesco. Tesco has been my go-to place to shop for clothes because honestly, there are some good finds there (especially plain singlets or tops). And they are not like RM5 cheap okay? There are dresses that can easily cost RM59. Of course there's a possibility that you may wear the same clothes as MANY other people who frequent Tesco. =)

FOS may not have the cheapest clothes (despite being rejected branded items =P) but you can sometimes find nice clothes there. Only if you can pay for the nice price tag as well. But I think RM50 for a decent dress is reasonable.

For those who love branded stuff, try Esprit. I am a size 14-16 and I could fit some of their tops and they are super comfy. But I'm again unemployed so I didn't get any from the shop. I cannot imagine asking my sister to pay RM60 for a t-shirt for me or RM200 for a blouse. But do it's extremely comfy that you'll just unconciously smile when you are wearing it. Serious! Check them out this CNY season as they have quite nice ones with nice price tag.

Shoes:-
 Payless (1st Avenue)
I have huge feet. Size 8.5. Used to think that I'm size 8 but I think I've increased by 0.5. But no worries, if you are from Penang, drop by Payless at 1st Avenue. They display ALL their shoes of ALL sizes so there's no need to feel embarrassed to tell the salesman or saleslady you need a size 8.5. You can try as many shoes as you like and just put them back after that. The price is towards the higher end (about RM50-RM100) but for someone who cannot find shoes elsewhere, it's a great place to look for nice heels.

Brands Outlet
You can get clothes and shoes from Brands Outlet as well although the clothes is maximum size 14-16 depending on the cutting. I can fit some of their XL clothes. Shoes again are on display with all the sizes so go and try them on! Price is okay-ish which is about RM70 for two or RM80 for two. However, the shoes are not of EXCELLENT quality so bear in mind to get shoes that may spoil easily. And comfortable level is slightly lower as well.

Padini sells shoes of bigger size as well and there's always this discount cart with shoes as low as RM15. However, the comfort level is not very high. So do bear in mind that you may get shoes that hurt your feet. =P

Okay, enough of talking. Next up will be pictures of me in all my purchases and also the shops I bought them from!!!

With all these shops for plus size women, do look hard for good buys. Do not settle for the one that you can fit. Cause more often than not, it'll end up in the Give-Away basket when the following spring cleaning comes. Been there, DONE A LOT of that.

I might be going to Dorothy Perkins to look for a pair of jeans. Will blog about it if I get anything from there. No point telling you how good these things are if I don't try it myself.

ps: I WAS NOT PAID FOR ANY OF THESE OKAY? In fact I had to pay for them myself. (With postage some more, see, no free gift also. =P Ok la, in Aishop postage is free if you buy above RM150 heee)

Guess what? I dyed my hair. With Liese, Chestnut Brown.

Am waiting to see the effect. Can't wait. Waiting for my turn to wash my hair.

My first time of dyeing my hair. It's quite fun and best of all? It's FREE. Sponsored by the sister who colours her with Glossy Brown.

Update more tomorrow or something.

Lots of plans lined up for next week. But assignment not finish. Will work hard tonight so that I can enjoy tomorrow.

Wei Wei vs Herballine

Location :- Equal (WeiWei is located beside Toy Museum thus free parking while Herballine is located in Gurney Plaza, in front of Kim Gary, beside S&J so you get to shop.)

Ambience:- WW is much more quiet as you are brought into rooms while in HL, you are brought into cubicles.

Services apart from facial – HL's facial comes with feet reflexology, foot bath, aromatherapy, nicer teas and spa soup- which was pretty yummy.

Price:- HL cheaper, WW’s price might increase with additional services like eye mask etc (which they ask if you want to do it when they are doing your facial, WW’s has more packages and that means more injury to our pocket. HL does not have any course that you must sign up for!

Annoying sales:- WW's staff are sometimes very pushy, comes up with courses that they'll make you sign up for. HL is actually quite good, not pushy.

Facial
Pain:- WW is facial not as painful. At first I thought they’ll be equally painful but NO!!!!!!! HL’s pain is like 10x WW’s. I was thinking HL will be where I’ll visit for my future facials but when that pain set in, I was almost ready to run back to WW’s arm without my bra. In HL, they’ll advise you to remove them but it was totally up to you, the girl who did my facial DID not tell me I can choose not to remove them.

Service:- As bad. Seriously, HIRE MORE WORKERS!!!!! I don’t think it’s a good idea to let your customer lie down in the room for some time that feels like eternity before coming back to them just because you are attending to another customer. T___T I actually thought she forgot me. I was T H I S close to knock the wall and remind them my existence.

Products:- HL- much cheaper and affordable if you intend to buy them.

Machines:- Equal I think, WW has this sterilization machine after she extract blackheads and pimples from your face while HL has this laser machine that removes dead cells.

Overall, HL wins by 2 votes but really, for the service, I won’t mind going back to HL but thinking of the pain I would happily run back to WW.

Wei Wei has many branches all over Penang.
Herballine is situated in Gurney Plaza, 3rd floor, in front of Kim Gary and right beside S&J. It currently has a promotion for first-timer. You only pay RM28 for the RM79 facial. =)

Editted:
Sorry for the wrong name for the shop. T___T I am such a lousy advertiser. Sigh, sorry ya?
